About Q2

Below is information about the Q2 name, what we value and how we approach projects.

Everything we do at Quadrant 2 Consulting we try to do in a thoughtful way. For example we try to really understand what is important to our clients before we start work.  We endeavour to find many options to solve a problem rather than assuming that there is just one way to deliver a particular project.  And at all times we try not to be driven only by the urgent and to keep the bigger picture in mind.

What Does 'Quadrant 2' Mean?

Typical activities in each quadrant

Stephen Covey in his best selling book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People talks about the difference between Quadrant 1 and Quadrant 2 thinkers. Quadrant 1 thinkers focus on deadline driven projects and fire-fighting activities while Quadrant 2 thinkers aim to build capabilities for the long term.

At Quadrant 2 Consulting, we aim to be Quadrant 2 thinkers. While our projects typically fall into Quadrant 1 of Covey's model we try to act accordance with Quadrant 2 thinking.

To think in a Quadrant 2 way requires individuals to be proactive.  Q2 thinkers regard every action, decision and demand on time through the filter of importance rather than urgency.  Although this is difficult, the long term effectiveness of both the Q2 team and our clients makes this effort worthwhile.

Q2 Values

Our values are pretty simple. We believe in:

  • clear, business-friendly communication
  • honest and fair behaviour
  • collaboration
  • structured thinking and rigorous analysis
  • transparency, and
  • quality work.

Q2's Approach to Projects

All Quadrant 2 staff gain tremendous satisfaction from knowing that in addition to helping a client achieve a project goal they have also contributed to the capability development of the client and their staff. We have this dual focus in every project we do.
